Central Brunch Tower
How is the Centrál Brunch Tower prepared at the café?
The Centrál Brunch Tower presents all the essential elements of a classic continental breakfast, served elegantly across three tiers. The bottom tier is hearty and satisfying: two freshly baked, buttery French croissants, butter, homemade jam, and a selection of quality cold cuts – ham, turkey breast, salami – alongside two types of cheese: Maasdam and Edam. The middle tier offers a fresh balance with crisp vegetables – cucumber, tomato, roasted kapia pepper – and creamy homemade hummus. This makes the brunch not only generous but also harmonious and well-balanced.
Why did we include this dish on our menu?
At Centrál, brunch is more than a meal – it’s a café ritual. The Centrál Brunch Tower is designed for those who appreciate classic savory breakfast flavors – high-quality ingredients, fresh pastries, and relaxed, lingering mornings. This tower is a contemporary take on the café lifestyle, and a worthy continuation of Centrál’s traditions.
What makes the Centrál Brunch Tower special?
Quality is present in every layer: the rich butteriness of the croissant, the depth of the cheeses, the carefully selected cold cuts, and the silky homemade hummus all contribute to more than just a breakfast – they create an experience. The three-tiered presentation is not only visually striking but also fosters a shared, social meal – perfect for conversation and slow-paced mornings.
Hummus – more than a dip: a meeting of cultures and flavors
Today, hummus is beloved worldwide, but it originates from the ancient culinary traditions of the Middle East. Made from simple ingredients – cooked chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil – it’s endlessly adaptable. Some versions are spicier, others creamier; some are topped with roasted vegetables, others with toasted seeds or fresh herbs. The hummus served in the Centrál Brunch Tower is smooth and well-balanced, pairing perfectly with the fresh vegetables and pastries. It’s not only a healthy, plant-based component, but also a culinary bridge between traditional and modern brunch culture – a small dish packed with flavor and meaning.
Continental breakfast – a refined tradition
The concept of the continental breakfast dates back to 19th-century European hotels, where it emerged as a lighter alternative to the rich, cooked breakfasts of the Anglo-Saxon world. The term “continental” referred to mainland Europe, where breakfast was traditionally simpler: fresh pastries, butter, jam, cheese, cold cuts, and coffee or tea formed the core. This elegant, understated format soon spread across cafés and hotels worldwide, becoming synonymous with a refined morning meal. The Centrál Brunch Tower draws from this heritage – abundant yet balanced, classic yet fresh – a breakfast that gracefully combines the culture of the past with the tastes of today.
